This ministry provides a spirit filled worship experience that inspires all to praise the Lord in every way, with every breath, every day. Our mission is to teach those who attend services that worship is continual, and not just for Sunday mornings.
Worship Team
We need to worship God in every area of our lives: at home, at work, in our cars, with our family, and here at Aldersgate UMC, where every Sunday, two services are held for the church family to join together in a community of faith and fellowship.
An hour-long Contemporary Worship experience begins at 8:30 A.M. and features praise music led by a team of singers and instrumentalists. Included are brief testimonials called "God Moments," personal meditation time and scripture-based messages from lay members and the Pastor.
Hear the bells ringing? As the bells toll, the traditional service begins at 11 A.M. Come and join us in praising the Lord with time-honored hymns and prayers. Watch as your children hear a special sermon just for them, and enjoy a special sermon just for you. Listen to the Chancel Choir as they share their message through song.
On many occasions during the year, Sunday worship services carry a unique designation. Some are Veteran's Day, July 4th Freedom, Rally Day, and Youth Sundays. Working together and with the Pastor to provide spirit-filled worship experiences is a team comprised from the following:
Chancel Choir*
Praise Team
Children's Choir*
Musicians
Audio/Video Technicians
Ushers & Greeters
Acolytes
A brief description of some of these groups is provided on this page, while more details are provided for the rest (marked with the "*" above) on their own web pages.
Praise Team
Every Sunday morning at 8:30 A.M., the Praise Team members open their hearts and souls to lead with song and prayer. Their music serves as the foundation for the Contemporary Worship experience, where they share inviting selections that remind us that every move we make we make for the Lord and that we should sing of His love forever.
We are always looking for more voices and musicians, so anyone interested in joining can attend the Praise Team rehearsals held after Chancel Choir rehearsal on Wednesday evenings.
Musicians
Your musical talents and gifts could bring tremendous joy to your church family. The skills you have with your musical instrument would enhance the worship experience here at Aldersgate UMC and could encourage others to share their talents with the congregation. Be Not Afraid to join those who already have volunteered — there's always room for more!!
Audio/Video Technicians
Interested in technology? Want the same seat every time, every worship service, guaranteed? We have a place for you! The sanctuary needs individuals committed to learning the intricacies of its sound, video and lighting systems, and who are willing to focus their talents to insure a quality experience for the congregation. Does this sound good to you?
Ushers & Greeters
First impressions are lasting ones, and the first greeting issued on Sunday mornings as we approach the front doors is one of warmth and welcome. Taking a turn to be a Greeter on Sundays allows you to meet all members one-on-one, and for them to say hello to you! What better way (and easier way) to get to know everybody? The next best way is to stand at the doors of the sanctuary issuing the day's worship guides and assisting those in finding a place to worship. Ushers participate in a number of ways and are needed for both worship services.
Acolytes
Third thru sixth graders are invited to become Acolytes. They light candles and assist at the 11 A.M. worship service. First and Second graders are invited to become Junior Acolytes. During the school year they carry a banner and during the summer they light the candles. Training is provided for all.
