Aldersgate United Methodist Church has an active United Methodist Women group led by Pat Megale.
The UMW purpose is expressed: "The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."
UMW is 140 years (1869) young, and still in mission affecting the lives of women, children, and youth. It is made up of women from teen years to a more mature age. Today, many are older in age and we really need to bring in the young ladies. (hint, hint)
Some of our ladies attend local, state, legislative, and national meetings. We have a specific kit that we make up each year from health kits to flood buckets—depending on what the conference selects. All monies for this come from our own contributions.
The only UMW fund raiser we have at AUMC is our Love Ribbon sale, which we do around Valentine's Day.
Our group has been a diamond unit for years, a status achieved by very few. This rating is achieved by completing many requirements throughout the year.
We have the Night Circle, Lydia Circle, Mary Martha Circle, LYLAS Circle (Love You Like a Sister teen group), and a Mission Circle with each circle meeting on specific days of the month… sharing programs, prayers, and sometimes lunch.
Come join with us and see what a difference our group makes in your life!
