  SUNDAY SCHOOL
 

Aldersgate United Methodist Church has a number of Sunday School classes for children, youth, young adults and seniors.

CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL

Nursery — available for children ages 0-2 during the Sunday School hour. Nursery care is provided by a well-trained staff, dedicated to your child's safety and well-being.

Children's Classes — Ages 3-5th grade, with a lesson, activities, and crafts. All taught by a dedicated, loving staff.

Confirmation Class — 6th graders attend Confirmation Class during Sunday School hour. This class prepares students for membership in our church. Students learn about our Christian heritage by visiting various churches of different denominations, including a Jewish synagogue, and they also learn the importance of mission work and outreach through a visit to Heifer Ranch in Arkansas over Spring Break. Many field trips are included in addition to great lessons.


YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL AND ACTIVITIES

Junior High Sunday School — 7th - 8th grades

Senior High Sunday School — 9th - 12th grades

Lessons are Bible based, with lively discussions and activities.


UMYF — Wednesday at 6 P.M.

Youth Bible Study — Sunday at 6 P.M.

Youth Praise Band — practices Sunday at 3 P.M.

Our youth are dedicated to mission and ministry, participating actively in UMArmy, the Four Corners Mission trip, and various other missions throughout the year. The youth keep a very busy summer schedule and have various activities during the school year, including camps, retreats, youth rallies, concerts, etc.


ALDERSGATE 101 — for visitors considering joining the church. This informative four-week class, led by the Pastor, introduces the basics of what it means to be a Methodist, church organization, etc. Held three times each year.


ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

HICS — (Home Improvement Christian Survivors) — a young adult class, participants being 18 years and older, many with growing children. The curriculum consists of long-term Bible studies and discussions, with occasional video series. Student participation is welcomed in leading the discussions. Family Life Center room 8.

IHS — (In His Service) — mixed age and genders with plenty of food for both body and mind. This lecture and discussion class focuses on Bible studies. Family Life Center room 3.

FRIENDSHIP — mature adult group led by Howard Clayton using a lecture and discussion format to study the Bible using commentaries. Family Life Center room 4.

OPEN DOOR — mixed age and gender, this class studies current issues and events as they relate to scripture, church policy, and daily living. Led by Wilodyne Hooper and Jeanine Anderson with plentiful discussion. Family Life Center room 2.

INTERCESSORS — mixed age female group studying the Bible through the Word of Faith series. A pillar support of our congregation and community, the group spends a part of each class in intercessory prayer. Family Life Center room 7.

BACK DOOR — mixed age and gender group using open discussion format to study relevant Biblical topics as they relate to everyday life. Led by Steve Forgus in the Choir Room.

IRON SHARPENING IRON — all male class led by various individuals. Discussion of topics that are of interest to men in a scriptural context. Family Life Center room 9.
