  Church History

In 1960, the towns within the Santa Fe Area were thriving communities. Growth had become permanent. Fine homes were being constructed; two new school buildings had been constructed on the Santa Fe Campus; and new churches of denominations besides the Methodist had been built. The Alta Loma Methodist Church and the Arcadia Methodist Church desired a new church.

Aldersgate United Methodist Church was founded on April 3, 1960 when the Alta Loma Methodist Church and the Arcadia Methodist Church officially merged after realizing their oneness in Christ. The name of the church was selected "in remembrance of" the heart warming experience of John Wesley on Aldersgate Street in London on May 24, 1738. The slogan became "with a new name and new enthusiasm, we shall build God's Kingdom."

The above information was taken from the History of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, published in 1972.

Come visit and worship with us and see how we are growing and making disciples of Christ by sharing His teachings through worship, example and outreach.
