The mission of the Evangelism Team and the related Outreach Ministries is to personally reach out to persons in the name of Jesus Christ, invite them to become active members of His family, relate them to God, and equip and empower them for ministry.

The Evangelism/Outreach Ministry is composed of many parts:

Evangelism

Those involved with the Evangelism ministry work with the Pastor to develop plans and methods to provide growth in the church membership. As team members, we talk with first time visitors and prospective members to offer information and answer questions about the church and its activities. We look for ways to spread the Word of God throughout the community.

Church & Society

This ministry team provides an outreach in a number of diverse ways. The Church & Society teams conducts blood drives twice a year so members can conveniently give the gift of life, and occasionally sponsors CPR classes for staff and members.

Their sponsored Angel Tree campaign every year invites members of the congregation to adopt a family of children whose parents are incarcerated. In the true spirit of Christmas, people purchase gifts of clothing and toys to be delivered to these children to make their holiday brighter and better.

Continuing that spirit throughout the year, the ministry team collects donations during the summer to help sponsor many of these children so they may attend camps, complete with the needed equipment and clothing.

Room-to-Grow

The Room-to-Grow project gives people the opportunity to become financially involved in providing for brand new churches within the neighboring five UMC-Houston area districts. The majority of the money is used to purchase property for new church development. However, some start up financial help is given to the new churches, and occasionally, help is given to other churches with special needs.

Bazaar

On the second Saturday of October, we join together to sponsor a church wide Bazaar. Goals of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church CountryFest include providing a day of outreach to the community, fellowship for the congregation and fund raising for the church's financial needs. All who attend enjoy a wonderful day of entertainment, home baked goods, auctions, great barbecue, children's games, and memories that last a full year.

Garage Sale

Every spring, there is a church-wide Garage, Plant & Hamburger sale. Everyone in the church can go through their closets, garage and sheds to do their spring cleaning and donate items to the church! Empty pots are also collected so that seedlings can be started for the Plant sale. Come and enjoy a freshly grilled, homemade hamburger with all the fixin's and enjoy the fun and fellowship.
