Aldersgate UMC Cookbook (click here to view a PDF invitation to participate in developing the cookbook and ordering the cookbook)

The NEW Aldersgate cookbook will be something VERY different! A New THREE RING binder (which can be added to), with a stand. We will also add NEW sections not covered by your traditional cookbooks. See below for some ideas, and even create your own!

To read some of the documents on this web page, you might need the Adobe PDF Reader.  A free copy of that reader can be obtained from:

Heart Saver CPR Course:  Saturday, November 7, 2009, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Fellowship Hall.  Certified instructors from Emerson Hospital have volunteered to conduct the class, which is limited to 25 attendees.  There is a sign up sheet in the church office  The cost of the course is $15.00; checks should be made out to AUMC.  Cash payments will also be accepted.  Please contact Bob if you have any questions.

How would you like to be part of a group that changes lives?  Have you ever thought of what you could accomplish with the support of many other men of "like minds"?  We want to have a gathering for the men of Aldersgate this summer to explore opportunities for making a difference in our lives and in the lives of those in our family and community.  We wish to explore the possibilities when the men of Aldersgate are of 'one accord'.

It looks to be another beautiful day in God’s World.  At a recent “Mighty Men of Aldersgate” meeting, a discussion came about regarding raising funds to purchase a defibrillator for the church.  Since most public buildings and many private companies as well are requiring them to be made available.  Stu and Carole donated a Philips HeartStart defibrillator to our church.  As a matter of fact, they came down to Chelmsford and delivered the defibrillator and wall storage case.  Bob mentioned he would be willing to arrange a CPR course to include the proper use of the defibrillator with his son-in-law who is employed by the Emergency Dept. of Emerson Hospital.  Yes, it’s always a beautiful day at Aldersgate.  We really, really do have warm and generous hearts.  God’s Blessings to you and yours,

Call to Action:

  • THE ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE WANTS YOUR HELP

Here is a Christian studies survey form to download and complete.  We are urging everyone to fill out the survey form to help the Adult Christian Education Committee better understand the needs and interests of our congregation and select studies to address them. The completed forms can be given to Cheryl Ortolf, Walt Ciesluk or placed in the collection plate. We hope that you will complete them as soon as possible but no later than the end of November.

  • Thanksgiving Food Drive:  We will again hope to give out aboout thirty turkey dinner meals on Sunday, November 22, 2009.  We believe each boxed meal costs us about $40, so please feel free to start putting your contribution, if able, into the offering plate so we will be able to fulfill this valuable service.  We will put out the turkey box as the time gets closer.  Again, thanks from your Outreach Committee for all your help.

  • Sound Tech Volunteers Needed:  We need a volunteer at each Sunday morning service who would be willing to turn on and test the Sound System for Worship and start the CD to record the service.  No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to be consistent and learn the system we have.  Please speak to Pastor Lisa if you are interested in serving in this way.

  • New Cookbook:  Ginny is spearheading this adventure and would love your help if you all are interested.  If you would like to brainstorm with Ginny, please contact her through the church office at (978) 256-9400.

  • Volunteers Needed:  For the past nine months, several members of our congregation have worked together to provide coffee hour.  Each took on one aspect for a Sunday of the Month.  Many thanks to Carol, Lil, Betty, Debbie, pat, Bill and Judy, SooKim, Nancy, Charles & Vera who have helped.  Some on our team are feeling a need to retire from this responsibility, so we are looking for several more people who would join the team.  You can bake, set-up the coffee, or clean up after.  Please let Joanne know if you are able to help during the summer or in the fall.

  • Bedford VA Alzheimer's Unit:  The Chelmsford Senior Center is asking for help in supporting the Alzheimer's Unit at the Bedford VA.  Some of the veterans do not have family.  They are asking for donations of large picture books, soft life-like babies to hold, soft animals to hold, busy boxes with latches/zippers/buttons, musical instruments to hold, art supplies, simple craft kits, CDs of old standards (1930-1950s, oldies, country).  There is a box in the front hallway by the window where you can leave your donations to help in this worthy cause.

  • Crib Room Help Needed:  We are looking for several youth volunteers (age 12 or older) to assist in the Crib Room during the 10:45 AM service, in keeping with our Safe Sanctuary Policy.  This is a great  way to serve our church while spending some time with the very youngest members of our church family.  If you can help once a month, or just occasionally as a substitute, please check out the sign up sheet on the Crib Room door or contact Lee through the church office.

  • The Food Pantry is in need of only a few things.

    • Peanut Butter

    • Fruit (no pineapple)

    • Spaghetti Sauce

    • Cereal

    • Paper Towels

    • Toilet Paper

Please contact the Outreach Committee.
