How would you like to be part of a group that changes lives?  Have you ever thought of what you could accomplish with the support of many other men of "like minds"?  We want to have a gathering for the men of Aldersgate this summer to explore opportunities for making a difference in our lives and in the lives of those in our family and community.  We wish to explore the possibilities when the men of Aldersgate are of 'one accord'.

It looks to be another beautiful day in God’s World.  At the last “Mighty Men of Aldersgate” meeting, a discussion came about regarding raising funds to purchase a defibrillator for the church.  Since most public buildings and many private companies as well are requiring them to be made available.  I mentioned that I would talk with Stu regarding this subject.  Although he is now retired from Philips (one of the manufacturers of defibrillators) I wondered if he would still have contacts to get us a “good price” and recommend a particular product.  Well, I had two wonderful conversations with Stu over the past few weeks and he and Carole are donating a Philips HeartStart defibrillator to our church.  As a matter of fact, they came down to Chelmsford last evening and delivered the defibrillator and wall storage case to me.  Bob mentioned he would be willing to arrange a CPR course to include the proper use of the defibrillator with his son-in-law who is employed by the Emergency Dept. of Emerson Hospital.  Yes, it’s always a beautiful day at Aldersgate.  We really, really do have warm and generous hearts.  God’s Blessings to you and yours,

Call to Action:

  • Volunteers Needed:  For the past nine months, several members of our congregation have worked together to provide coffee hour.  Each took on one aspect for a Sunday of the Month.  Many thanks to Carol, Lil, Betty, Debbie, pat, Bill and Judy, SooKim, Nancy, Charles & Vera who have helped.  Some on our team are feeling a need to retire from this responsibility, so we are looking for several more people who would join the team.  You can bake, set-up the coffee, or clean up after.  Please let Joanne know if you are able to help during the summer or in the fall.

  • Lay Readers:  Each Sunday morning a different lay member of the church participates in our service by reading scripture.  We are getting ready to make assignments for the next six months of the year.  If you are interested in reading scripture, please put your name on a note and give it to Pastor Sharon and she will add you to the rotation.

  • Bedford VA Alzheimer's Unit:  The Chelmsford Senior Center is asking for help in supporting the Alzheimer's Unit at the Bedford VA.  Some of the veterans do not have family.  They are asking for donations of large picture books, soft life-like babies to hold, soft animals to hold, busy boxes with latches/zippers/buttons, musical instruments to hold, art supplies, simple craft kits, CDs of old standards (1930-1950s, oldies, country).  There is a box in the front hallway by the window where you can leave your donations to help in this worthy cause.

  • Crib Room Help Needed:  We are looking for several youth volunteers (age 12 or older) to assist in the Crib Room during the 10:45 AM service, in keeping with our Safe Sanctuary Policy.  This is a great  way to serve our church while spending some time with the very youngest members of our church family.  If you can help once a month, or just occasionally as a substitute, please check out the sign up sheet on the Crib Room door or contact Lee through the church office.

  • Church School Teachers Needed for Fall:  Some people come into our lives and go quickly.  Some stay awhile and leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.  A child needs you to be the special person in his or her life.  Our church is asking you to prayerfully consider making a difference in the lives of the children of Aldersgate.  We are looking for 2 pre-school teachers and a 3rd and 4th grade teacher for the fall.  Please contact Cheryl if you are interested in helping or for more information.

  • The Lowell Wish Program is in urgent need of cribs and bed frames, refrigerators in good working order (no rust or antiques).  They have 40 new families in February alone.  Any questions, please contact the church office and ask for Jim.

  • The Food Pantry is in need of only a few things.  We have plenty of vegetables and tuna but are in need of dry milk, peanut butter and jelly, spam or other canned meat, spaghetti sauce, toilet paper, and paper towels.  Please contact the Outreach Committee.

  • Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

  • Volunteers Needed for Elder Services

  • Worship Arts Supplies

  • Counters Needed

  • Shoes for Orphan Souls
