The United Methodist Church provides a wealth of online resources for those who hold lay and staff leadership positions in its churches, as well as for those who aspire to grow spiritually and develop their gifts and talents to use in God's service.
The United Methodist Church Web site provides news and information about the people and activities of the world-wide United Methodist Church, as well as links to numerous resources. The site also provides access to the Methopedia, which provides news, tools, and church-wide resources on personal, family, social, cultural, political, economic, spiritual, theological, church, and ministry issues.
Other resources include the following:
- California-Pacific Conference and Hawaii District sites provide administrative information, including church directories, event calendars, and contact information for United Methodist organizations.
- Boards and Commissions of the United Methodist Church provide information and materials for all areas of Christian ministry, spiritual growth, financial administration, social justice issues, lay leadership tasks, college scholarships, and interreligious concerns.
- Communications sites provide media resources for individual churches, including sources for hardware, software, and audio and visual materials.
- Publishing house sites provide access to United Methodist publications, as well as an online bookstore.
Conference and District
- California-Pacific Conference. Provides contact information and news about boards and ministries, annual conference, all churches in the conference, and the bishop's office.
- Hawaii District. Provides a church directory for United Methodist churches and staff in Hawaii and Guam, a calendar of district and special events, and information about the district camping program.
Boards and Commissions
- General Board of Church and Society. Offers downloadable resources, including sermons, bulletins, and worship and liturgical models. Order books, tapes, posters, and other justice resources. Find and contact elected officials.
- General Board of Discipleship. Provides resources for all areas of Christian ministry.
- Worship pages contains worship planning and sermon helps; ways to use the arts in worship; ethnic resources; ideas for contemporary, traditional, and emerging worship; music downloads; seasonal ideas; and the Revised Common Lectionary.
- Ministries with Young People pages provide downloadable applications for grants and scholarships. Use the Ministry Network to subscribe to e-newsletters for current information on what is going on with young people and their leaders around the world.
- The Upper Room Living Prayer Center enables you to place online prayer requests, which are forwarded to one of 300 Covenant Prayer Groups world-wide.
- General Board of Global Ministries. Provides links to New World Outlook and Response magazines; and a database of country profiles, containing general interest facts and figures, as well as profiles of missionaries in those countries.
- United Methodist Committee on Relief pages provide downloadable church bulletins and worship resources, as well as the procedure to make online donations to relief projects.
