	Children's Ministries Ministries to children, from ages 3 to 11 (sixth grade), include Worship Sunday school Family activities Vacation Bible School Please see our calendar for this month's activities. Worship Children remain in Sunday worship for the first fifteen minutes to hear musical presentations and to participate in prayer and a children's story. On the first Sunday of each month, children remain in worship a few minutes longer to receive Communion with their families. Children and youth assist in worship as acolytes. Sunday School Children leave worship to attend age-appropriate groups for Bible-based lessons that include prayer, a devotional message, craft projects, music, and games. Each child is encouraged to bring a Bible to Sunday school. As part of the Sunday school program, children learn songs that they perform in worship on special occasions. Family Activities Family activities include picnics, hikes, potlucks, pool parties, camps, and Christmas caroling. We encourage all generations of our church family to participate together. Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School (VBS) is usually held for a week in the summer. This event incorporates Bible study, crafts, music, food, and fellowship. Online Fun for Children The Pockets Web site, a division of Upper Room Ministries, provides Christian games, activities, jokes, poems, art, and spiritual growth activities for children. This is one site parents and care-givers will want to encourage their children to visit. Note to Parents Our church participates in Safe Sanctuaries, a United Methodist policy that ensures the safety of our children. The entire congregation takes seriously our duty to protect our children from physical and emotional harm. What Our Children Say "I love watching Pastor Jim do children's time!" "I like this church because I see my friends here!" "I like the snack people and my teachers." "I like making crafts." "I like the stories about Jesus." "We have good teachers." What Our Parents Say "We can't stay home on Sunday. Our kids drag us out of bed so they can go see Pastor Jim and go to Sunday school."
