Pentecost Thoughts
Even after the
sighting of our resurrected Lord, the disciples seemed to live in fear and
paralysis. Then came the winds of Pentecost. God's spirit poured out and
the beginning of recreation and renewal. Love, joy and hope began to
spread instead of fear, distrust and
apathy.
It is my prayer
that as we approach the season of Pentecost, we will empty ourselves of
fear, distrust and apathy and allow God to pour The Holy Spirit into our
lives and give us power to live courageously and faithfully into the
future.
Jesus promised us
peace in the midst of difficult times of transition. Our congregations and
our individual lives are in the midst of transition and as we yield in
trust to God , God's Spirit can transform our apathy into hope, our fear
into faith, our anger into enthusiasm, our doubts into possibilities, our
resentment into love , our distance into reconciling relationships,
oppression and hurt and anguish into justice and Love.
Seek the outpouring
of God's spirit and discover the power to live faithfully and fruitfully.
Only by the power of the Spirit of God can we accomplish what God calls us
to do and dare as congregations seeking to bring in the kingdom of God in
our midst.
Pentecost is not an
event we remember from the past but an experience that we must seek here
and now so that we can live into the fullness of life that is our
destiny.
God is pouring out
the Holy Spirit , you willing to receive
it?
Rejoicing with you
and inviting your to surrender to God's
Spirit,
Lovingly, your fellow servant in
Christ,
Solomon.
