The Baltimore/Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church

United Methodism is a mainstream Protestant religion founded in 1729 by John Wesley in England. This area was the cradle of Methodism in the United States. The church was officially organized in the New World at a Christmas Conference in Baltimore in 1784. In 1968, Methodists merged with the Evangelical United Brethren to become the United Methodist Church.  United Methodists are a connectional people, linked together across the globe – financially, in prayer and action.
