1896
The First Union Church Service of Ann Arbor was formed at 1115 Broadway and Plymouth Road
1926
The Evangelical Church was organized at the Broadway site (beginnings of Calvary).
1932
Upon closing of the Lima Center Evangelical Church, several key leaders and families join the Calvary Evangelical Church.
1946
The Evangelical Church and the United Brethren in Christ merged, to become the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Thus, the Church at Broadway became the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church.
1953
On Palm Sunday, April 2, 1953, the Conference Board of Missions of the EUB Church announced the purchase of seven lots on Miller Road at Newport Place for the construction of a new church. (Calvary was to become that new church since it was outgrowing its present facility at Broadway, and since it had petitioned the Conference for financial support to purchase the site.)
1955
After engaging the architect, Glenn Beach of Saginaw, ground breaking ceremonies took place on the first Sunday of May (May 1, 1955). A parsonage was built at the same time to match the design of the church.
1956
On Palm Sunday, March 25, 1956 (three years after the original announcement that a new church was to be built), opening services were held in a newly completed building – after 30 years of renting at 1115 Broadway.
On the first Sunday of May (May 6, 1956), one year after the ground breaking ceremony, a consecration service was held. The new name of the church was to be known as Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church of Ann Arbor.
1968
On May 1, 1968, a merger (union) took place between The Methodist Church and The Evangelical United Brethren Church to form The United Methodist Church. The EUB Church of Ann Arbor became Calvary United Methodist Church.
1970
October 11, 1970 marked the date of the mortgage burning for the church building.
1973
March 25, 1973 was the date for celebrating the burning of another mortgage – the parsonage.
1976
50th anniversary of the Church; 20th anniversary of the Church in its present building.
1993
25th anniversary of Calvary United Methodist Church.
1996
70th anniversary of the Church; 40th anniversary of the Church in its present building.
1997
25th anniversary of the Living Circle
2001
The 75th anniversary of Calvary was observed; as well as the 45th anniversary at Calvary’s current location.
2007
Calvary celebrates its 80th anniversary as a congregation and 50th year at present location.
