WELCOME TO OUR  PASTOR
Peter F. Geschwindner

 

Peter F. Geschwindner was born and raised in New Jersey. He is a graduate of Albright College in Reading, PA. and Garrrett-Evangelical Seminary in Evanston, IL.  He was ordained in the Northern New Jersey Conference of The United Methodist Church and has served churches in New Jersey, New York, South Dakota, and Pennsylvania. Prior to his appointment to Tunkhannock UMC, Peter was the Vice President for Mission Enhancement at Albright Care Services, Lewisburg, PA, a church-related non-profit specializing in housing and healthcare for seniors.  He is married to Anne Anderson Geschwindner, who is a retired United Methodist minister.

Church Secretary - Barbara Landon

We are pleased to welcome Barb Landon as our new Church Secretary. Barb has been a member of our church since her childhood and is involved in many different ways in the community such as Families Helping Families, Exodus Prison ministry and a regular volunteer with Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen. She is in the church office Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. If you need to get in touch with her, please call her at 836-1229 or email her at tumc@epix.net.

Financial Officer - Collin Lunger

Collin K. Lunger joined the TUMC in 2008 as the Financial Officer.  He is currently employed at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Homes as a Funeral Director and is married to Lara Beth Winschuh.  He attended college at Pennsylvania State University where he earned his Associates in Business Administration, and he attended the Northampton Community College where he earned his Associates in Funeral Services. In his spare time Collin enjoys playing softball, golfing, and spending time with friends.

Director of Christian Education - Shane Powers

Our Christian Education ministries are directed by Shane Powers.  Christian education is a life long journey, as we travel the path set before by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At TUMC, we offer several opportunities to nurture and enhance the spiritual lives of those within our community and teach people to utilize their spiritual gifts to make more disciples for Jesus. We have classes and programs from nursery age through adult.

Shane creates and maintains the Sunday School Program, VBS, the Youth Group, and weekly Bible Studies. They also are involved with outreach projects, special United Methodist projects, and other ministry ventures.

Shane and her husband are  from the Tunkhannock area. Outside of church, they keep  busy with their familiy through sports and community activities.

Organist - Al Purdy

 

We welcome Al Purdy as our organist. Al recently retired as the Chorus and String Director at the Tunkhannock Area High School and Coordinator of Music for Grades K-12. He has a B.S. in Music Education from Westchester State College, now known as Westchester University. Well known in our area, Al brings many musical skills to his position with us.

Director of the Chancel Choir - Susan Pirone

Sue Pirone was named Music Director for the church in January, 2013. Her responsibilities include directing the Chancel Choir and coordinating the Sunday School children's music program. She is also a member of the church's flute choir, The Faithful Flutists. Sue graduated in 1980 with a B.S. in Music Education, from Clarion State College, now known as Clarion University. Our choirs are always looking for new members, so if you are interested in participating or would like more information, please feel free to contact her by email at suepirone@hotmail.com or by telephone at 570-836-6639.
