WORSHIP AND MUSIC

Worship:

We offer a variety of settings for worship. Our Saturday evening service is an informal 45 minute service at 6:00 PM each Saturday. It is the only Protestant service offered on Saturdays in our area. On Sundays, we have worship services at 8:30 and 11:00 AM .

Our sanctuary is handicap accessible from Warren Street and we have handicap accessible restrooms on the sanctuary level. We also offer hearing devices, large-print bulletins, large-print hymnals and activity sheets for children attending worship. Child Care is also provided for Sunday Services.

Music:

We also have an excellent music program for children, youth and adults including both vocal and bell groups. Our organist, Al Purdy adds greatly to our worship both at the Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ and the piano.

Music is an integral part of the worship experience at the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. Our vision for the music program of this church is to provide the opportunity for meaningful and enriching musical expressions of worship for people of all ages.

Our choirs include the following:

• Chancel Choir...singing choir for men and women ages High School to senior citizens. No auditions necessary. We practice on Wednesday nights 7:30 to 9:00.
• Senior Handbell Choir...ringing choir for men and women from high school to senior citizens.  Knowledge of music is necessary. Practice is on Wednesday nights 6:00 to 7:30.  Meet at 7:30 am for set up on performance days.
• Music for Children and Youth ... Below you will find a new Winter/Spring Practice Schedule for our Children's Music Program. All Music Rehearsals will be in the front of the Sanctuary.

OK, Guys and Gals ...

Time to get  to work. Below you will find the new Fall/Winter 2007 Schedule. 

Senior High Youth and Adults are invited to join our Chancel Choir and/or Senior Bell Choir. 

The Senior Bell Choir rehearses at 6:00 each Wednesday evening in the back of the sanctuary. Ringers need to be able to read music. In addition to worship, they also perform in the annual Library Show and by invitation to area church and civic groups.  They will ring in worship for the Fall and Winter as shown on the joint schedule below:   

Sr. Bell Choir rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:00-7:15 . Meet1 hour before performances.
The Chancel Choir also practices on Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. Meet 1 hour before performance.
Meet downstairs 8:00 am before 8:30 performance (get robe first)
Meet downstairs 10:30 am before 11:00 performance (get robe first)
Genesis Ringers Meet  Monday 7 - 8 pm

Below is the practice and performance schedule for our Sunday School Children Choirs

On Performance Day, children should meet Mrs. Zellner and Mr. Purdy 15 minutes before the start of the service by the piano in Fellowship Hall.

Children's Chime Schedule Winter/Spring 2008

*** Chime players should come to chime practice as usual, after the children's message, during the service and we will play during the offertory.

A reminder that your presence at every rehearsal and performance is truly needed and greatly appreciated. If you will not be available for a rehearsal or performance and need help finding a substitute, please leave a message at the church office 836-1229 or give me a call as far in advance as possible. The Chancel Choir rehearses at 7:30 each Wednesday evening in the choir loft. Persons who can only sing at 8:30 or at 11:00 are still welcome to be part of the choir. The choir will meet a half hour before every performance for a warm up and run through.
