Tunkhannock United Methodist Church Education Programs

Youth: We are currently working on new ideas for our Youth Group. The new grouping will focus on having the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades meeting in fellowship together. They will be meeting during the Sunday School hour once a month, as well as, planning outside activities to do together. Of course, there will be some fundraising and mission outreach projects. TUMC youth have always been strong in mission and outreach.

The youth are currently working on practice and education of being "green".  They hosted a Styrofoam free  coffee hour where they served coffee in mugs and washed them afterwards.  They plan to adopt a highway in the fall and make reusable shopping bags to make available to the congregation.  If you have any ideas or suggestions please let us know.

A Youth Ministries Committee has been formed to help the youth along on their journey. The goal is to aid in nurturing and increasing the youth group. Also, to gain youth leaders to manage the group. This committee includes youth representatives from Sunday School classes. Please pray for us as we begin this new adventure together!

BEACH PARTY - Surfin' Through the Scriptures Grab your surfboards and mark your summer calendars for this awesome VBS!

Little beach goers will learn Be-attitudes, including: Be Kind, Be Obedient, Be Forgiving, Be Bold in Faith, Believe. It promises to be a week filled with the spirit of God as we make a splash learning through Bible stories, games, crafts, music and new this year a super beach science center! See you there!

Sunday School

• We offer classes every Sunday morning from 9:45 - 10:45. There are classes available from age 3 through adult. Our primary age levels follow Cokesbury curriculum. Youth age students follow Bible passages and topical, daily application Biblically based studies. Students in levels 3 year old through 7th grade also participate in music as part of their class time.
• Rally Day 2008 will be September 7th.  The children and their parents will gather in the Sanctuary at 9:45.  The children will meet their teachers and faithful attendance awards for for 2007 will be given out.  The classes will then be dismissed to their rooms.  Parents are invited to a special time of fellowship to go over our new Safe Sanctuary policies and learn of upcoming adult Sunday School classes.

Long Term Class: Pairs and Spares

This group follows a seasonal Cokesbury curriculum. The focus is currently a study on Lent and the journey of Jesus toward the cross and our spiritual journey of faith.

Childcare is provided for anyone taking a class on Sunday mornings. Please come out and join us some time! All classes are designed so anyone can join in at anytime!
