Mothers are some of the
most special people in the
world. We, obviously,
wouldn't be here without
them. They do it all.
When we are sick they are
the first to care. When we
need a ride or a few
dollars, they will no doubt
help us out. It's all part of
their job. The difference
with this job is they want
to and because they love
us. Even though there
isn't an official
"Children's Day"
celebrated in the US it is
really "Children's Day"
everyday. For only one
day we are expected to
repay that beautiful
woman always around.
Make that one day
special. It isn't too much
to ask for such a
wonderful person. Show
your love---- you definitely
have it in there
somewhere. Remember
they do it all for us even
though it takes a lot out
of them. This special
woman that we call mom
or mother of mommy is
the best woman we will
ever know. Thanks for all
you do! We love you,
Mom. All of you mothers!

College News
Rachel Clayton, a senior at DePaul University in Green Castle, Indiana, is graduating at the end of May. She is receiving a business degree. Congratulations Rachel!!
St. Luke's is full of people with many talents. Some offer their services to God and our church. If you listen closely during prayer time and songs, you will hear someone who does just that. Muriel Storlie doesn't say much, but her service to our church is more wonderful than any words could express. She is the pianist, that plays the beautiful, joyful songs. Every Wednesday, she comes to Choir Practice. She helps us to praise God every Sunday morning. Mrs. Storlie, we thank you for your love and accompaniment. St. Luke's as a church and family in God, would not be the same without your dedication and service. We love you!

Once I asked a parachutist, "How did you
feel when you jumped from the airplane
with a parachute on your back for the first
time?" He answered, "There was only one
thought: "It works, it works!"
What does it mean to go through life with Jesus? I can answer from experience, "It works, it works!"
What joy that we may tell other people that it works.

It's been estimated that if
the widow's mite had been
deposited in the "First National
Bank of Jerusalem," drawing
interest of 4% compounded semi-annually, the fund today would
amount to
$4,800,000,000,000,000,000,000.
If a bank on earth could multiply
thewidow's mite to such an
astronomical figure, think what
God can do with our gifts.
At the end of May, we
celebrate a day that could
easily be forgoten, but never
should. It is Memorial Day.
The day we give back to
remember the men and
women who gave their lives
for our lives and country in
war. These are the sons and
daughters of people we may
never know, or are close
friends with. Either way, it
is important, that we as
Americans and Christians
observe this holiday in some
way, no matter how.

Today's language is full of buzz words like Internet, Java, and World Wide Web. Technology has allowed us to "chat" with people half way around the world, and share ideas with people we may never meet.
Imagine, sending a note to a friend, and not paying 32 cents or waiting three days for it to get there.
E-mail is what we call this
"miracle". St. Luke's has
stepped into the future, and
now has an email address and
website. A list will be
compiled and published of
members' email addresses
and websites. If you have
one, please leave your name
and email address or website
address in the newsletter
staff box in the secretaries
office as soon as possible.
I never behold them (the heavens filled with stars) that I do not feel I am looking in the face of God. I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God.

St. Luke's would like to welcome new staff members and new members of the congregation. On April 5th, Betty Venhaus joined our church, and on April 12th, Steven, Dinah, Leslie, Danny, and Ellie Bacchiocchi made a commitment to St. Luke's. Be sure to greet each one of these new members in Christian love. Also, we want to welcome two new staff members. Jenny Pachal, our new choir, is a graduating Senior and plans to attend Lamar next year. Daric Rogers, our new youth director, currently attends Lamar and is already involved with our youth. We are truly forunate to have these new staff members. Show all of our new members and staff the warmth and love of St. Luke's.
Whatever you do,
do all to the glory of God!
