Greetings in the name of our LORD and risen Savior, Jesus Christ! There are many men who are interested in ministry to men and ministry through men yet need some organization, some fellowship, through which they can flourish. There are many men who need to learn of Christ and His teachings, who will then become great evangelists for God's kingdom themselves. Our district needs a good deal of work in order to establish itself as a connectional resource to assist local UMM groups to be better disciples and better disciple-makers. If you have a desire to lead in this endeavor or have any questions, please contact Nick Robinson. Particularly, if you would be willing to serve in some capacity and attend a district-wide meeting to create by-laws, elect officers, name an advisory board, and commission a district prayer advocate, for starters; please send me your contact information and any suggestions or questions you may have.
The General Commission on United Methodist Men was created in 1997 in an effort to encourage more male involvement in the activities of the United Methodist Church. About 30% of the national membership of the UMC is male, so the need is clearly there. The Missouri Conference of United Methodist Men is divided into twelve districts. The largest, geographically, is our Southeast District. Our district needs a meeting to establish a constitution, by-laws, and officers in accordance with the minimal requirements of the United Methodist Book of Discipline. The Missouri Conference of UMM is holding some money for us until these matters are resolved.
Who are United Methodist Men? Members of UMM are male members of a United Methodist Church. That's it! You are a United Methodist Man.
What is United Methodist Men? It's an official arm of the United Methodist Church to support ministry to men by ministry through men. There are many reasons why this is crucial to the future of the church. Contact me and we can talk. The district serves as a point of connection between the local UMM and the state and national UMM organizations. The UMM connection offers much inspirational, educational, and administrative services on many fronts. Need an idea for a mission? a fundraiser? a fellowship gathering? or a Bible study? Do you want to find ways to share with other men who have had your problems or need your solutions? Would you like to know of charities that make excellent use of money for helping the economically, spiritually, and educationally poor? UMM is an excellent resource that keeps men's ministries in mind. Would you consider being more involved? Find some ways in this presentation.
