May 26 is Pentecost Sunday. It is the birthday of The Church. It marks the day that the Holy Spirit swept through that place in Jerusalem where the disciples and thousands of others had gathered to await The Spirit's coming (Acts 2).

Many of our Christian brothers and sisters spend much time and energy waiting for the Second Coming of Christ. It is their focus and their hope.

I, too, look forward to that day, whether it is tomorrow or 10,000 years from now. My concern, however, is that if my hopes are too narrowly focused on the Second Coming, I may miss the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th coming of Jesus into my own life, or the resurrection of Jesus in yours. And those are events I know I will see happen.

The wind of The Holy Spirit is still blowing. As it forever changed the lives of the disciples and others in Jerusalem, so can it change your life and mine. Pray for a personal Pentecost. Pray for those around you to see the coming of Christ in their lives.
