Explore Otterbein ChurchAll of us have defining moments in our lives. Defining moments are occasions when your choices will change the course of your future: accepting God’s grace in Jesus, walking down the aisle and taking vows with your spouse, watching the birth of your child, joining a body of believers who have chosen to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We are excited that you are interested in visiting with us. Otterbein Church is a place of acceptance where you can come as you are, dress comfortably, and encounter the God of second chances – a place where we can be real with each other and with God. Otterbein Church is located close to downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia. We offer exciting weekend services with relevant messages to encourage the entire family. A Brief History of Otterbein Church Otterbein has been a part of the Harrisonburg community since 1894. In the passing years through mergers of several denominations (United Brethren in Christ, Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist) we became the United Methodist Church in 1968. Our present building was constructed in 1918. There have been many internal changes to the physical structure to accommodate the changing ministry and growth over the years. The members and friends of the Otterbein fellowship compose all walks of life – rural, business and professional. Such a diversity of people and backgrounds gives us a strong base with which to reach out into the valley and community to witness for Jesus Christ. This is just the beginning. Otterbein Church is passionate about reaching people for Christ – especially children. If there is one person without a church home in the community, Otterbein Church will always welcome that person!
