HUMBLE United Methodist School located in Mukono, Uganda is providing a life giving ministry to the children of war torn, and disease-crippled Uganda. This ministry is an Advance Project of the UMC. It was to be included in the Virginia Conference "Invitation to A Feast" booklet this year but
inadvertently was left out. HUMBLE UM School is a ministry that you or
your congregation should consider as you plan your ministry work this
year.
There are a number of ways that you can get involved and support thesechildren. In the summer of 2006 an immersion trip is planned to Uganda. Begin praying now to see if God might be calling you be a part of such an experience.
Below is an article about HUMS, the mission opportunities and information about the Immersion trip.

HUMBLE United Methodist School:
Conceived during an UMVIM trip in 1999, HUMBLE United Methodist School is a work in progress that has already touched the lives of the 167 students currently enrolled in grades nursery through Primary 5.
Located in Mukono District of Uganda, East Africa, HUMS is not just school, but is home, church and loving community to needy and vulnerable children, most orphaned due to HIV/AIDS, war or the effects of absolute poverty. A medical clinic, funded primarily from the 2004 Virginia Conference Offering is nearing completion and will not only increase the level of care for the students and staff but ultimately serve the needs of the surrounding community.
HUMS is a partnership between the emerging Uganda UMC and the United Methodist Church in the U.S. Ongoing construction will allow for expansion through secondary/vocational school with additional classrooms and dormitories. This will ensure that students already enrolled and those yet to come will be assured of loving home, clean water, nutritious meals, medical care, as well as a quality, Christian based education – all of the ingredients necessary to provide a child with hope for a future.
You are invited to support the children of HUMBLE UMS through donations to the Advance for Christ and His Church, project number 14191A.
Virginia Conference HUMBLE Place (UMVIM) Immersion Trip - July 2006
You are invited to join a trip to be experience the miraculous grace of Jesus Christ in relationship with children who are among the "very least of these" in the world..... innocent victims of HIV/AIDS, poverty and disease at HUMBLE United Methodist School.
This experience will be about building transformational relationships with the children and staff at HUMBLE United Methodist School and the Uganda UMC. The primary purpose of the trip is to allow God to form and call us as we learn through the gentle handshakes, smiles, songs, drama and stories of the children and staff of HUMBLE School.
One-on-one tutoring, after school activities and classroom teaching with emphasis on special areas of your educational expertise are welcomed by the headmaster, Paul Balidawa and staff.
As Uganda is leading all of Africa in reducing the HIV/AIDS infection rate we will also have seminars with the Uganda Ministry of Health HIV/AIDS leadership of whom the HIV/AIDS Director for the country, Dr. Eric Ikoona, is a United Methodist. We will also meet with and the leadership of the Uganda United Methodist Church with a special emphasis on the needs of women and children.
The immersion trip will also give team members who so desire, the opportunity to engage in hands-on service projects such as hydraform brick making and grounds improvement as time allows.
Accomadations and meals will be provided in a comfortable hotel three miles from HUMBLE United Methodist School with the majority of time spent at HUMBLE School. A day of sightseeing will be spent as we visit the gorgeous headwaters of the Nile River at Lake Victoria.
