Evaluation Summary

Here are the results from  the 1st Unitarian Church congregation in Portland, OR when they participated in the Food for Thought (and Action!) program.

Total households pledging: 365

Total pledging households completing evaluations: 162 (44%)

Question #1: Did the information provided in this program about the effects of your eating habits on global warming, pollution, world hunger, water supplies, local farmers and your health enable you to feel:

Much more informed: 51 (31%)
Little more informed: 99 (61%)
Not more informed: 10 (6%)
No answer: 2 (1%)

Question #2: To the best of your recollection, have you

Fulfilled all that was pledged: 65 (40%)
Fulfilled some that was pledged: 89 (55%)
Fulfilled none that was pledged: 2 (1%)
Can’t remember: 5 (3%)
No answer 1 (1%)

Question #3: If you fulfilled all or some of your pledge, do you plan to continue those actions?

Plan to continue actions taken: 153 (94%)
Don’t plan to continue: 0 (0%)
No answer: 9 (6%)

Question #4: If you fulfilled some or all of your pledge, did you also take additional actions connected with food?

Took additional actions beyond the pledge: 84 (52%)
Didn’t take additional actions: 60 (37%)
No answer: 18 (11%)

Didn’t tell anyone about the program: 60 (37%)

31 people who didn’t pledge in the Food For Thought (And Action!) program completed an evaluation. The reasons given were:

Already doing some, all or more than what is asked in the program: 9 (29%)
Didn’t get around to it: 6 (19%)
Unable to do what was asked: 5 (16%)
Objected to the program: 4 (13%)
Cost of organic food too high: 2 (6%)
Didn’t hear about it/new to church: 1 (3%)
Other: 6 (19%)
