The basic statement of United Methodist doctrine is found in the
The Articles of
Religion in the Book of Discipline.
The following is a brief summary of the central truths we preach:
- God's desire from creation has been to have a people who are His very
own
- Sin has destroyed the relationship between God and His creation as
well as the relationships within creation (between people, and between people
and nature)
- Through His only Son Jesus Christ, God has decisively dealt with sin, working
our salvation and calling us to live as His people through faith in Jesus Christ
- God freely gives His grace, mercy and forgiveness to all who come to
Him through faith in Jesus Christ
- God pours the Holy Spirit on His people enabling them to be His
representatives in the world
- We at Holy Trinity also believe that the Gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12) are as much in operation
today as they were in Biblical times
