The Hopper family relocated from Demorest, GA, leaving Clarkesville UMC in the summer of 2005 to join the Cartecay UMC family.

Following graduation from North Georgia College and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army in 1983, Rev. Hopper spent four years on active duty in the Field Artillery. After transferring to the Army Reserve, he continued to pursue his career in the Army Reserve while beginning a career with the Georgia Department of Human Resources.

Rev. Hopper was employed in the Division of Family and Children Services for 16 years, last serving as a Regional Program Manager for the counties in northeast Georgia. In the summer of 2005, Rev. Hopper retired from State Government and the Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel, to answer the call to the ministry.
