MIT Hunger Action Group became first college/university group to work Saturday's Bread (still working).

"The Ebenezer Four": Miriam Young, Bertha Brown, Barbara Roach, and Elizabeth Woodly began a 10-year record of service for Saturday's/Sunday's Bread (still working).

AUGUST 1985
Mort Backer became the corporate and philanthropic fundraiser. In September 1990, he was succeeded by Lael (Plunkett) Murphy.

Old South Church paid for replacement of electric range in kitchen($2,500.00).

The program is now administered by 48 organizations of 1,000 volunteers. There are no paid employees or staff. This is an interfaith, interdenominational, interracial, human activity of people concerned about the hungry in the Boston area.
