Hello to all our friends and relatives,We feel very fortunate to be close enough for our conference officers to meet here once a year. As has been the custom in recent years, residents who had spare beds shared them with the UMW Conference Executive and Finance Committee members when they were here August 5-7. Some also stayed in Brooks-Howell guest rooms. It is always good to know we can give back in some small way to those of you who work so hard for the United Methodist Women. Remember United Methodist Women owns Brooks-Howell. Your support is very much appreciated.

In July we lost our 105-year-old missionary to China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Katherine Ward; Miriam J. Gruber, missionary to China, Singapore and Malaysia; and Margaret Overby, deaconess. One of our outreach patients, Selma Warrick, who was also our neighbor, passed away on Friday, August 26. We will miss these very good friends.

New outreach residents are Hazel Curtwright, Edith Pittillo, and Bess Heaton, all from the Asheville area.
