Ride On The Ducks

Go To Additional Pictures

Talk about a fun time, riding the Ducks was it!  Everyone had a great time and we had the opportunity to get to know each other better at the same time.  We finished off the day with a splendid meal at a downtown restaurant.

Here is a picture of a Duck, it is amphibious which allows you to start your tour on the streets and finish it in the Delaware river.

Everyone boarded around 2:00 PM on Saturday for a tour through the historic area of Philadelphia and then up the Delaware River to see Penn's Landing (and other sites of interest) from the water.

You can tell by the smiles our captain was a very entertaining and amusing fellow.  Here he is at the controls of our Duck.

I tried to take a few pictures of the many sites we viewed while going through the historic area.  Since we love to hear the sound of coins falling into the collection plates, I thought it interesting to see where many of the coins are minted.  Here is a picture of the Philadelphia Mint.

Here is a picture of the house Betsy Ross lived in while she was sewing the first American flag.

Many of the citizens of Philadelphia go to great lengths to beautify the city.  One of the things they do is cover old walls with works of art.

The last part of the tour was on the Delaware River.  Going down the ramp and changing from the land to water was invigorating.  Here are warehouses that were converted to $500,000 condominiums.  They do not look too great from the outside so they must be nice inside.

We had company on the water, they were just a little faster so they passed us on the river, but while listening to them we could tell we had the better captain.

After returning from the tour, we all gathered before going our separate ways for awhile before getting together for dinner.  Some went to South Street, some to other historic areas, and Phyllis and I went to Washington's Park and listened to a story teller tell stories about colonial times.

We took the time to thank the captain (on the left) for a great time.

Before dinner, I took a few pictures of Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

To end the day, we all gathered in front of the restaurant before dinner.

We took the opportunity to end the day together, have a great meal, and terrific fellowship.  I have to say this outing was a complete success.  To join this group and feel the fellowship is something everyone should experience.
