Bensalem Christian Day School

Serving the community since 1968

Bensalem Christian Day School is a community outreach program sponsored by the Bensalem United Methodist Church. We are located at 4300 Hulmeville Road, which is directly across from the Bensalem High School. Since its conception in 1968, the school has been dedicated to providing a Christian education for preschoolers in Bensalem and the surrounding communities. Several of our current students can boast that their parents also came to BCDS.

The Lord has blessed our school with a wonderful group of parents and students as well as a dedicated, caring staff of teachers, classroom assistants, and office support personnel (nineteen employees in all). Many of our teachers have shown long-term loyalty and commitment to BCDS. Two of our teachers are approaching twenty-five years of service.

With less than five percent of our enrollment consisting of children of church members and constituents, the Day School can truly be considered a mission outreach program. Our tuition is the lowest in the region thus making it the most affordable preschool in Bensalem. In addition, partial and full scholarships are awarded to students yearly based on financial need (anywhere from 5-8 scholarships given yearly). Reduced tuition is granted to families with two or more students attending the school at the same time.

Our staff is committed to creating an atmosphere of enjoyable and enlightening activity where students can look forward to each day with eager anticipation. Underlying all our efforts is the belief that God has created each child as a very special and unique individual to be loved and respected always. Our curriculum introduces children to basic concepts which will facilitate their readiness for kindergarten and formal education. We are especially concerned with the development of the "whole" child by providing activities to meet the student's physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

Currently, there is an enrollment of approximately 200 students, ages 2 and ½ through five years of age. All programs are ½ day sessions and no day care or extended hours are provided. Six distinct programs are offered beginning in September and follow the regular public school year.
