Our annual Celebration Sunday was August 29. We gave Bibles to 3rd graders, welcomed our new staff members, and enjoyed fellowship with food and games.

The July 19 Michigan Christian Advocate had a photo of 6 of our United Methodist Kids. The raised over $600 for supplies to pack school kits for Liberia by promising sponsors they would forego TV for a week for a pledge. They filled 36 school kits, 6 health kits and sent a case of 24 Bibles. They also paid the cost of the tubs and the shipping. _

The youth group had a very exciting canoe trip of the Rifle River July 13-15. They had work projects at the Church in August. _

The Reverend Douglas R. Trebilcock became the Pastor of Aldersgate on July 1. He formerly served the Clarkston United Methodist Church. He is a native of Ishpeming and has degrees from the University of Michigan and Garrett Theological Seminary. In addition to Clarkston, he has served churches in Howell, Rochester, Bloomfield Hills and St. Clair. His wife of 37 years is Kay. She is the daughter of the Rev. Ira & Alice Bush of Midland. Ira is a former Minister of the Parish at First United Methodist Church of Midland. They have 2 children, Michael of Midland and Brian of Flint, and four grandchildren. We welcomed him at his first service at Aldersgate on July 4. _

The Reverend Louise R. Ott became the District Superintendent of the Saginaw Bay District of The United Methodist Church effective July 1. She replaced the Rev. William T. Robinson. She formerly served the Novi United Methodist Church. _

We officially sold our parsonage on July 1. The proceeds were invested with the United Methodist Foundation of the Detroit Annual Conference with the income used to help pay our Pastor's housing allowance. _

On June 27, we recognized the services of the Rev. Phil Rice, our interim pastor for the past year. Phil will continue serving Aldersgate as our Minister of Visitation and as a small group leader. _

On June 27, we commissioned four new Christ Care group leaders:
      Ralph Czerepinski, Fran Longsdorf, Phil Rice, and Shelley Synder _

A very successful Vacation Bible School was held June 21-25. The participants gave the special music at the June 27 worship service. Thanks to all who helped out. _

On June 6, we recognized our graduating seniors and the many teachers who have helped in our church school program this year. _

The Sunday School Mission Project the past year was the Shalom Hispanic Ministry. This ministry is an outreach program of the Saginaw Bay District. It meets every Thursday evening at the Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church in Saginaw. _

Wyl McCully started as our Director of Youth and Family Ministries at the end of May. On June 13, we welcomed him and his new bride, Megan, with a special lunch. _

On May 23, we recognized the those who completed 32 weeks of Bible Study in the Disciple II class. _

Thanks to all who helped with rummage sale May 20 and 21. We netted over $2300. The money raised is used to support missions. _

The Friendship Christ Care Group had a Guess Who's Coming to Dinner party on May 14. _

A 4-week Bible Readers Series studied Joy in Serving Christ: A Study of Philippians during April and May. There were classes on Wednesday noon and Thursday evening. _

The United Methodist Women had a tea on May 12. _

The seniors group, 55 and the 3F's had Marty McGuire, Director of Public Services for the City of Midland for a speaker at their May 10 meeting. The singing group 3 Outlaws and a Good Guy performed at the June 14 meeting. _

Seventeen youth participated at a High Ropes Course at Judson Collins Camp over the May 7-8 weekend. _

On May 2, we celebrated the Confirmation and reception into the membership for the following youth:
