CALVARY
UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN

Over the years Aldersgate has had a sister relationship with Calvary United Methodist Church of Saginaw. Calvary was formed in 1987 as a mission church by the Board of Missions & Church Extension of the Saginaw Bay District of the United Methodist Church to serve the African-American population in the southeast side of Saginaw. We have participated in joint services, dinners, and other celebrations. Aldersgate has helped Calvary with time, money, and donations of material items in exchange for a warm friendship.

Calvary has a large tract of land requiring a power mower to cut the grass. This mower had been stored just inside one of the entrances of the church building. A group from Aldersgate as a recent missions project helped Calvary construct a shed to store the mower. Aldersgate participants were Al and Marge Klashak, Dick and Nan Skochdopole, Jon Fischer, and Mary Wackerly. Calvary particpants were Rev. John Benisson and Lyle Brummell.
