Every month in the news letter there is a section from the Pastors Study. Here is what is written this month:

I recently watched a thought provoking TV show on the History Channel called, “Life After People.”  It looked at this question, “What would happen to planet earth if the human race were to suddenly disappear?”  The book of Revelation does speak about a future battle of Armageddon.  This special didn’t focus on the end of the human race, but on what would happen to planet earth.  We saw what would happen after different amounts of years into the future.  Cars would shrivel into piles of dust.  Skyscrapers and great bridges would collapse.  Even great achievements like the Hoover Dam would eventually be gone.  After 10,000 years there would be little evidence that man was ever on the planet.  They predicted that three items might remain:  Mt. Rushmore, the great wall of China, and the Pyramids of Egypt.

It was a sobering show.  The many material things that are important to us will not last.  Our house, our car, our gardens, our church building – none of these will last.  Even the historic stone arch Rockville railroad bridge will be gone.  Our history museums will disappear.  If this is the case, what kind of monument can we leave for the future?  This is a good question for every Christian.  The monuments we leave for the future will be other lives we have touched for Jesus Christ.  As Christians our eternal future is in heaven.  The future question will not be how many material things did you accumulate, but what others have you assisted on the way as you have journeyed toward glory?

If you have new neighbors, invite them to come with you to worship!
