GETTING REAL ABOUT MISSION
Mission statements are fine. They usually say just what we intend - somewhere, some time, a committee has spent hours, days, weeks making sure the words are just right. But often, they don't communicate very well.
This formerly proud, large urban church, through a combination of factors, has grown to be a small group of dedicated Christian people committed to the following:
- That the United Methodist way of being Christian will continue to be present in Aberdeen, Washington. That worshipping, growing and serving in Christ are the core of our being, and are much more powerful than any issues over which we may disagree.
- That although our resources for ministry are small, we will take the few things we have (loaves, fishes), bring them to Christ, and do as he directs. We can do no more. We can do no less.
- That our focus will be on what the Lord is directing us to do and be right now. The past is history. The future belongs to Christ. But the Holy Spirit will lead us right now to the ministries that we specifically are fit to provide, and will lead those destined to take part to find us.
